Pattison Media believes we can improve our industry by supporting the career development of groups currently underrepresented in the media industry of Western Canada, in the following ways:
By removing barriers to employment for the following underrepresented groups:
- Indigenous Persons
- Persons with disabilities
- Members of visible minorities
- Women
By accessing a currently untapped pool of potentially talented employees
By encouraging the employment of people with diverse viewpoints and backgrounds
By using those diverse backgrounds and viewpoints
- to enhance relationships with local communities
- to broaden the potential audience and advertiser base
THE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!
Pattison Media Ltd. is pleased to announce the awarding of four total scholarships valued at $2,500 each, to deserving students enrolled in journalism studies at institutions across Western Canada.
Pattison Media recognizes that there are significant challenges in both the recruiting of well-trained individuals for all aspects of the broadcasting industry, and there are significant challenges for individuals in the underrepresented groups including:
• Indigenous Persons
• Persons with disabilities
• Members of visible minorities
• Women
Pattison Media continued support of the Pattison Media Equity Scholarship allows for the four deserving recipients amongst a vast pool of qualified applicants and helps these young future journalists press forward during challenging times.
The successful Pattison Media 2025 Equity Scholarship recipients are:

• Sia Foryoh BCIT, Broadcast & Online Journalism

• Koralee Nickarz Langara College, Journalism

About the recipients:
Gregory Burdey

Gregory Burdey is a proud Metis man originally from Saskatoon Saskatchewan and currently living in a beautiful Metis community of Ile-a-la Crosse Saskatchewan. The move to Ile-a-la Crosse helped Greg connect with his Metis culture which Greg is truly grateful for. Greg has always been passionate about sports and grew up playing hockey and baseball. Greg enrolled with Herzing College and plans to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a sports announcer.
Sia Foryoh

Sia Foryoh is an award-winning journalist, producer, and storyteller based in British Columbia. A BCIT student set to graduate in 2025, she’s passionate about investigative reporting and amplifying underrepresented voices. She’s dedicated to uncovering meaningful stories and making an impact through journalism. When she’s not chasing stories, she’s balancing life as a full-time student and a dedicated mom. Sia believes in the power of storytelling to create change and she’s just getting started.
Christian Hince

Christian is a Métis Creative Communications student at Red River Polytech with a passion for storytelling and a love for sports. Whether it’s through journalism, media, or creative content, Chris is driven to share stories that connect, inspire, and reflect real experiences. Chris is busy building the skills to turn his passion into a career—one that blends creativity, culture, and community with powerful storytelling that makes an impact.
Koralee Nickarz

Koralee is a graduate of the Langara College Certificate Program. During her education as a journalist, Koralee uncovered an exclusionary policy at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Her investigation as a student journalist was subsequently picked up by major media outlets across Vancouver. In addition to the Pattison Media Equity Scholarship, Koralee is the recipient of the Langara Students' Union Journalism Scholarship and the B.C. Journalists' Legacy Scholarship.
