Pattison Media has an exciting opportunity as we expand our Cranbrook, B.C. News Team at 102.9 Rewind Radio and Wild 104.7 East Kootenay’s New Country.
Are you a passionate storyteller with a nose for news? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong desire to keep your community informed? If so, Pattison Media’s Cranbrook division wants you to join our team as a News Reporter and News Anchor!
We’re looking for a self-motivated journalist who loves chasing stories, engaging audiences, and delivering impactful local news.
As a News Reporter, you will:
- Uncover local and regional news for our four radio stations, WILD 104.7 East Kootenays New Country and 102.9 REWIND Radio in Cranbrook, plus sister stations, 99.1 REWIND Radio and WILD 92.7 – serving the Elk Valley, Fernie, and Sparwood.
- Report on breaking news and local events, both in the field and in the newsroom.
- Write, edit, and produce compelling stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Work independently mostly but not exclusively, during office hours, demonstrating strong news judgment and decision-making skills.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong interviewing and story-telling abilities.
- Strong writing abilities for both broadcast and online.
- Strong on-air presentation skills.
- Excellent news judgment and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for local news and a keen interest in engaging with the community.
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness to cover stories on location.
- Previous experience in radio broadcasting or news anchoring is preferred.
- Legally able to work in Canada
